Lenwood V. Long, Sr., MS

Lenwood has more than twenty five years of community economic development, human resource and business management experience. His experience includes directing major community and economic development projects, developing policies and procedure manuals, facilitating staff and senior management level work planning sessions, conducting focus group sessions, inter-governmental relations, legislative lobbying, contract management and compliance, grant writing, disadvantage business enterprise program management and advocacy and program and project planning.  He has held various senior level management positions which have provided the opportunity to plan develop and manage a variety of business development as well as community and economic development programs. Past positions have included Director of a state wide planning agency, Vice President and Senior Associate for a state and national consulting firm, Director of Finance and Administration for the largest rural focused non-profit agency within the state, Director of Community Affairs for a state wide non-profit organization and Government Program Manager for a major state initiative. Additionally, he served at the national level of government as Chief of Staff for former Congresswoman Eva M. Clayton.

Lenwood holds a Master of Urban Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Augustine’s College.  He has also completed the Executive Government Program at the UNC-School of Business and completed the Fundamental of Money Management Program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed the National Guard Productivity Management Program of group facilitation and management.  He has extensive diversity training and is a graduate of the nationally acclaimed Department of Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute. He is a skilled facilitator and leader in diversity issues having served as lead instructor for the North Carolina National Guard’s Equal Opportunity Institute established to train equal opportunity staff and diversity facilitators at the unit level.
